Who are we hiring?
Sphere is looking for a Senior Director of Commercial and Event Production to drive, lead and manage Digital Content Creation and production from client initiation through Post and delivery to Sphere venues. The Senior Director is responsible for ensuring that all events and productions commissioned by Sphere are fully developed with the client and achieve contractual agreement on creative, production schedule and budget. Additionally, this role will vet any outside vendors, crew, suppliers to be sure Sphere is getting the best value for its money, and to support and help fulfill the creative vision of the client and business leader.
Reporting to the VP of Production Management, this role will work closely with the heads of departments including Capture and Post/Pipeline, Show Technology, Commercial and Marquee Event Sales, Venue Operations, Legal and Finance. The candidate must have demonstrated production leadership experience.
This role includes planning and coordination for any technical and creative testing as well as any planned rehearsal time in Big Dome in Burbank or Sphere venue in Las Vegas. This role will be responsible for the build out of commercial production operations and project management processes for the Studio.
What will you do?
- Oversee production budgeting process from concept stage to post-production delivery including production scope, schedules, estimates, and technical needs for MSG Sphere content creation.
- Manage and lead the relationship with the client, serving as the key connection and communications conduit.
- Oversee contract review and business terms for any content creation for commercial projects
- Establish and lead the budgeting and scheduling process
- Schedule regular project meetings with client to ensure smooth running of content creation process and review
- Establish process to ensure client feedback loop with internal and external creative partners
- Collaborate regularly with creative, production and technical teammates, and senior
- Drive efficiency and improve quality by implementing tools, best practices, internal frameworks, components, and standards.

What do you need to succeed?
- An experienced production leader, managing digital production, with an established history of delivering projects on time and on budget, with a diversified portfolio of experience.
- Demonstrated experience in client and account management
- Previous experience with a Commercial Production Agency
- 15+ years of experience digital production, live action studio and location based large
- Experience with large format/CG/360 content creation a plus.
- Superb organizational skills with ability to create executive presentations, budget summaries, production plans, multi-project timelines, etc.
- A confident, professional, and persuasive communication style with senior leaders and team members
- A passion for creative problem-solving and strategic thinking
- Ability to remain flexible and calm in high-pressure situations and adjust as multiple moving parts consistently change.
