Associate Capture Workshop

Who are we hiring?

Sphere Studios is looking for an associate to help manage day-to-day operations of the Capture Workshop and our camera inventory.

The Capture Workshop is the core of our advanced camera and immersive capture department.  Specialty equipment and testing facilities are stored, cleaned, and maintaining in a rental house-like space adjacent to MSG Sphere display test sites.  This role will keep the shop running smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities center around the daily activities related to this functional and busy space.  Asset tagging and stewardship of equipment check-in and check-out is primary responsibility of the Camera Workshop Associate. Ordering monthly expendables and working with Capture/Production in equipment procurement is an integral aspect of the associate position. Maintaining a clean work environment and organizational skills are a must. This highly skilled individual would work directly with the Capture Manager.

What will you do?

  • Establish and maintain a clean workspace with equipment, cases, and supplies logically organized, cleaned and readily accessible.
  • Maintain inventory and track assets using a software suite, including processing new purchases, check-outs, -ins, L&D claims, and coordinate equipment repairs with vendors as needed.
  • Order and track Camera shop procurements.
  • Work directly with production/accounting in handling procurement budgets.
  • Assist in all equipment logistics including shipping, receiving, carnets, and transportation.
  • Work with weekly shooting crew on camera preps and in-house studies.
  • Support equipment preps for location and studio shoots.
  • Keep equipment operating properly, and oversee necessary service and repair.
  • Maintain weekly reports for all equipment movement; repairs/servicing; equipment out on shoots; equipment on loan to other departments; and sub-rentals.
  • Create, maintain, and distribute project documentation, internal reporting, meeting minutes and deliverables.
  • Work closely with insurance to help keep an accurate and active accounting of all inventory.
  • Proactively identify project risks and dependencies and communicate these to the appropriate project lead.
  • Effective and frequent communication to project sponsors, resources and management around project status, budget, scope and timeline.
  • Maintain key customer and vendor relationships, oversee new vendor on-boarding.

 

What do you need to succeed?

  • 3+ years’ experience in the film industry, preferably rental house experience.
  • Knowledge of leading asset managing software system.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Projects, Jira, or similar industry standard project management tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and able to anticipate stakeholder needs and stay ahead of potential issues.
  • Experience in the entertainment and production industry preferred.
  • Seasoned professional able to work calmly under pressure and/or challenging conditions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Very strong communication management and the ability to work with and negotiate with executive stakeholders.

  • Must be capable of lifting 50+ lbs. of equipment.

$65,000$95,000 USD
