Who are we hiring?

 The Senior Buyer Purchasing Food & Beverage is responsible for the daily purchasing and inventory management of a wide range of goods and services at Sphere in Las Vegas as well as supporting, Madison Square Garden Arena, Radio City Music Hall, The Beacon Theater, The Chicago Theater, HULU Theater and Knicks and Ranger Training Center when needed. The Senior Buyer has a working knowledge of all purchasing related tasks, including how to effectively purchase all items across all venues.  The Senior Buyer also supports some of the Senior Manager and Buyers responsibilities in their absence, learning managerial skills and training.

What will you do?

  • Tactical buying for all Food, Beverage and Paper/Packaging products across all venues
  • Determine PARs for products
  • Analyze requisitions from multiple location and determine efficient purchasing strategy
  • Evaluate event schedule & forecast needs by communicating internally with associates and externally with vendors
  • Place orders and update inventory bids in Eatec, MSG’s inventory and purchasing system
  • Confirm and reconcile orders with Vendors
  • Handle solutions for Out of Stocks
  • Communicate with vendors for late/missed deliveries
  • Facilitate purchasing for executive, talent and green room requests
  • React and solve “shorts” at time of delivery, in a “Just In Time” inventory process, resolving immediately
  • Foster professional relationships with Sales Reps and Vendors
  • Liaise with Security for deliveries
  • Administrative work for invoice reconciliation between MSG AP and Vendors
  • F&B Purchasing project work, such as new vendor & product sourcing, cost analysis, reporting.
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert for Eatec Training to assist Operations as well as Purchasing team, through document development and online/zoom trainings
  • Cross-train and provide support to other areas, as needed

What do you need to succeed?

  • 5+ years’ experience
  • Broad and in-depth knowledge of food & beverage, paper, cleaning supply, and uniform industries. Knowledge of industry terminology. Understanding of product specifications, costs, performance levels, suitability for MSG environment, after-purchase maintenance needs
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to obtain clear communication of needs from user community through a combination of diplomacy and precise requirements gathering. Able to translate user needs into technical requirements appropriate to the specific product / industry and convey requirements to vendors in a clear and effective manner
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure while handling several tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and sound decision making, often without complete information
  • Awareness of vendor performance, reputation, suitability for working with MSG
  • Ability to follow process and strategy set forth by managers
  • Experience with Purchasing Systems, especially Eatec and MS Excel
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and company policies regarding purchasing, vendor relations, and sales tax
  • Behavior consistent with MSG values

Pay Range
$75,000$110,000 USD
